If My People …

Does anyone ever deal with people they care about listening to christian music and singing along with it .. knowing that the person has fallen so far away from God, but you can’t say anything without creating a major incident? Do you catch yourself murmuring to God about it under your breath, even feeling bitter?

I deal with this a lot and it tears me up inside. We do more to feed the beast with that kind of response. This morning I caught myself and asked forgiveness. I think that when we gripe and murmur, that it contradicts our prayers and can even confuse a situation more.

If there is any kind of battle going on for the souls of these people we give the demons more strength with our attitudes, then we go pray and give the angels more strength … many times I wonder if battles go back and forth because of how people carry themselves so inconsistently in the spirit.

The battle over Daniel fasting seems unique in this regard. I’m sure there were moments when Daniel felt weak and even felt like giving up, but he remained consistent until he almost starved to death.

I once heard of a man who lived with the old native tribes who go out and pray every day knelt down in the snow all day until it melted around him from the sweat and body heat coming off of him. I know a story of another man who had what they call camel knees from praying so fervently on a hardwood floor by his bed, and he had a worn area in the floor from pacing in prayer …

In an old apartment I lived in for years I also wore down an area of carpet from pacing in prayer and praise for long periods of time, but for me even an hour or 2 in prayer will burn me out.

We seem to lack the fortitude and endurance to keep up like the men of that caliber, but most of us barely spend a few minutes a week in prayer anymore. And we wonder why things don’t change or improve around us. or if you are content with the way things are, then you are still doing something wrong …

“A man is no greater than his prayer life” is a statement that has been on my heart for days recently. Tho, I remember I use to be so addicted to prayer. I couldn’t get enough of going to church before I learned all that I know now about the paganism and the entertainment and the money.

A preacher once said something like, even if the church is dead or run by lies, just sit thru it and pray in the back in your pew, even under your breath until something happens … its a fairly tempting thought honestly. I liked to call myself an Agent Of God for this very kind of reason. I mean wolves are always out disguised as sheep, but Jesus said we will be sheep disguised as wolves. And I think we may have to be at times in order to make some difference.

Everyone always asks where is God? Well He wants to know where are His people … ?

Universal Vindication

“And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”

1 Peter 3:13-14

And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?. This question is meant to imply, that in general, they need not expect evil if they lead an upright and benevolent life. Which may sound contradictory, but this is more likely a reference to the time after our lives here …

The idea is, that God would in general protect them, even thru harsh times, though the next verse shows that the apostle did not mean to teach that there would be absolute security, for it is implied there that they might be called to suffer for righteousness sake …

While it is true that the Savior was persecuted by wicked people, though His life was wholly spent in doing good; while it is true that the apostles were put to death, though following Jesus’ example, and while it is true that good people have often suffered persecution, though laboring only to do good, still it is true as a general rule that a life of integrity and benevolence conduces us to safety, even in a wicked world.

People who are upright and pure, who live to do good to others who are characteristically benevolent and who are imitators of God are those who usually pass life in most tranquility and security, and are often safe when nothing else would give security but confidence in their integrity.

Though in many cases a particular person may carry a certain burden for souls, and while seeing the tragic circumstances surrounding some people’s lives, the person becomes empathic … even after suffering persecution at their hands.

A man of a holy and pure life may, under the protection of God, rely on that character to carry him safely through the world and to bring him at last to an honored place. Or should he be calumniated or mistreated when living, and his sun set under a cloud, still his name will be vindicated, and justice will ultimately be done to him when he is dead. Simply meaning that vengeance will be God’s …

The world ultimately judges right respecting character, and renders “honor to whom honor is due.” Compare Psalm 37:3-6. I would be bold in saying that the universe (under God’s control) will set things right …
